Kasiika (pronounced Kas-ee-ka), is an independent singer, songwriter and musician from London. Her debut EP “Better now” released in 2018 includes solo tracks and collaborations with UK artists Ayo Beatz and DJ Ironik. Her songs are fresh, musically adept and addictive. She launched her EP to a packed Megaro Bar in Kings Cross, London playing live acoustic with a neon lit grand piano. She performed her EP at London and Croydon Mela mainstage. She is supported by BBC Radio Asian Network DJs Ashanti Omkar and Harpz Kaur. DJ Bobby Friction chose her as BBC introducing artist of the week and she is working on her new album with upcoming releases Hideaway, Own It and Misfit. Her latest tracks are a unique fusion that carves her own niche in the music scene. Every song she writes has a close personal meaning and she hopes you join her on this musical escape. She will be performing on the mainstage at the upcoming Diwali On The Square (DOTS) 2019 in Trafalgar Square, London and releasing her new music in gigs around the Capital.

Her background includes her family fleeing the Sri-Lankan civil war when she was 10 to the urban playground of Tooting in South London. Here she was challenged by a new culture and music style. She started traditional and was successfully selected for the Bach Choir who recognised her vocal ability. She performed in venues as celebrated as the Royal Albert Hall. In her teens she also pursued her love of urban music and joined a rap group as the solo vocalist and quickly her talents were realised. Her love of music was cultivated through a local youth community group and over years of travelling and performing her pinnacle was playing in front of a crowd of 10,000 in Bangalore, India.  

It all began one summer, she chose Music as a subject and taught herself how to play piano by listening to her musical pieces. She has stretched and honed her talent and learned to play many instruments including the guitar, ukulele and Indian classical flute all by ear. The stage name Kasiika is wordplay on her name Karthika with a French twist. Her tracks blend elements of Pop, R&B, UK Grime and Dance.
